Hi Tim,

10.1 is fairly old and unsupported now: I would definitely update your
OS unless you have a very compelling reason not to (such as relying on
ancient pre-built binaries compiled using g77).

You will find that some things have improved a lot since the 10.x
series, amongst other things the software management has been completely
re-written under the bonnet (it now uses zypper), and works really well
now.

The only disadvantage is that you may need to do a fresh install - I
would not rely on an update from 10.1 to 11.3 or 11.4 working. Having
said that, I found the installation of 11.4 quick and painless!
