Hi What version of linux are you using?
Initially this sounded to me like a problem with 32 vs 64 bit, but if you look here : http://www.globalphasing.com/buster/wiki/index.cgi?RHEL5installGPhLSoftware#ccp4 It could be some problem with the version of coot you get together with CCP4. Try downloading from the coot site http://lmb.bioch.ox.ac.uk/coot/ maybe that will get you going. Hope this helps!
