It’s a problem with the atom labels, when you space across the backbone the labels appear automatically and slow down the program. I haven’t figured out a way to turn off labels permanently or fix the lag I’ve only implemented a hot key to turn them off once they do appear but this gets tedious very quickly. I know at least one of the developers believes it’s not worth trying to fix so you may be on your own for this one but if you find a way please let me know. I think it’s a problem limited to coot running on redhat because I run fedora and have been struggling with it for some time but I’m far from being an expert.
