Devaraj Das commented on HADOOP-1985: ------------------------------------- I propose the following to avoid corner case HDFS issues and keeping the existing invariant (that all operations like block rereplication/deletion happen knowing the rackid of the datanodes). 1) On namenode startup, the namenode keeps on accepting datanode registrations and lazily resolving them.
