My experience w/ Emma has been up to a 10x slow down and random
failures of the injected Emma bytecode.

It has been failing due to Clover (our code coverage tools) not

properly when we moved to Java 6. I have finally disabled clover (my
initial attempts were unsuccessful at getting it working). A Jira
has been
filed to fix it.
