My instinct would be to add a link next to the Support link, or perhaps even as a separate section on the Support page. I think the rules should be as on the Support page: alphabetical listing, no endorsement implied, etc. We should remove things which do not directly provide added value to Hadoop.

What do others think?

Hey all

I was wondering if there should be a page/listing for non-apache (and commercially) licensed (sub) projects of Hadoop.

The FrontPage lists Sub-Projects and Contrib packages. And the PoweredBy is 99% companies using Hadoop. There is even a People/Companies for hire.

So I was thinking, for the slowly emerging category of commercial apps built for Hadoop, there ought to be an equivalent page. Or in the short term, just an additional section under Contrib on the FrontPage, if that isn't too obnoxious.

The goal here is obviously to get equivalent visibility as complimentary sub-projects.

Clearly this isn't a change I should be making without community buy-in, considering my interest. But obviously am happy to make the addition if approved.

Considering the second option above, adding:
http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/

.....
- Sub-Projects
...
- Contrib
...
- Other Projects/Applications <- the addition
...

cheers,
chris
