Ari Rabkin commented on HADOOP-5040:
------------------------------------
Can you clarify the scope of this issue? What data should be indexed?
Is this different from the general problem of indexing data in sequence files
in HDFS? I have no idea if the general problem has been solved (e.g., by
lucene), but it feels like something someone has hit before.

> Chukwa has ability to collect large volume of data, but the lack of index
> prevents Chukwa front end to serve data straight from HDFS. This jira is the
> place holder for designing a indexing service for Chukwa. The plan is to
> create indexing service base on available software like lucene or katta.
