looks good luca. if curious about your comment about reads being file based.
if you configure bookkeeper to be the only logging device, wouldn't it read
from bookkeeper?
i'm also wondering about having to create a new Configuration object to get
config parameters. shouldn't a configuration object be passed to the
EditLogStreams?
