No, I actually meant degradation.

If the new API is easier to use, captures more type information, etc., in my estimation that is more important than a whisker thin performance penalty in an area that is not performance critical.

I have read the concurrence of 2 possible benefits of the 2 possible approaches:
- better API
- better performance
