Hi Brian,

thanks a lot!

It may be difficult to reproduce. Maybe a slow file system helps (like NFS).
Just let us know if you have questions.

Best regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

We haven’t encountered this yet, to my knowledge, but we’ll see if we can
reproduce it during our next sprint.

Thanks,
Brian Stafford

Subject: [11u] java/nio/channels/AsynchronousFileChannel/Basic.java crashes on
Windows x64

Hi,

we observe crashes in jdk 11.0.12 on Windows:
https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8267440<https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbugs.openjdk.java.net%2Fbrowse%2FJDK-8267440&data=04%7C01%7CBrian.Stafford%40microsoft.com%7Cc92386856da54294151b08d92f715f84%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1%7C0%7C637592986257024831%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=LSmKaskfTKf5JUqWSt0dVxhW9BuRY86bdn1VW3j7wqI%3D&reserved=0>

I haven’t found any backport which looks like obviously causing it.

We had different theories which include:

  * Antivirus tool which keeps the test file open.
  * Error in handling of OVERLAPPED structures.

I was hoping that
JDK-8184157<https://nam06.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbugs.openjdk.java.net%2Fbrowse%2FJDK-8184157&data=04%7C01%7CBrian.Stafford%40microsoft.com%7Cc92386856da54294151b08d92f715f84%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1%7C0%7C637592986257034811%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=%2F3ZDJqKinnl6jkv%2BoGeoEY9MyumsxqkG1h7yJAYbUo4%3D&reserved=0>
would fix it, but it doesn’t. Maybe it is incomplete?

Did anybody else notice such crashes?
Any idea?

Best regards,
Martin
