Thanks all.. ur guidelines helped me a lot..
i'm using Jfreechart... when i set System.setProperty("java.awt.headless",
"true"); i'm able to run this properly... 

if i specify the path (where the chart is to be saved) as  local
filesystem.. i'm able to save the chart..
but if i set path to be hdfs, then i'm unable to...
so what changes do i need to make..
