You didn’t mention which application’s preferences. Could the preferences be
for an app that uses the VPIO (Voice Processing I/O) unit? The VPIO has a
property to turn on and off so-called Voice Processing, which is mostly noise
suppression. It would be reasonable to call that property “ambient sound
reduction” in a dialog.

Just a guess.

Subject: "Use ambient sound reduction" property

I'm looking at CoreAudio framework which gives me volume or default input
device however there is not property for the checkbox "Use ambient sound
reduction" that is available via the preferences.

Is there a way to obtain this programmatically?

Ambreen
