I was really suggesting testing on os x using another file system, not 
requiring it if users. 

It's quite possible that the file system may respond differently with a 
different approach. 
If you get same results with other FSs on os x then it tells you something 
also. 

Basically what level of abstraction is the delta happening at?
Then you know where you need special case code.
