Well, you might want to take a look at real_mode_switch_call_vsm. I see the code telling it to use real mode address 0:0x1000 as the location for the stack. http://tracker.coreboot.org/trac/coreboot/browser/trunk/coreboot-v2/src/cpu/amd/model_lx/vsmsetup.c#L182 Maybe that is why it is getting stomped :) (link is to v2, but the code is the same.
