I second that - my i7-3840qm shows only 4 of its original 8 threads when
hyper_threading is set to Disable and its full 8 threads when I set it
to Enable.
I however also noticed severe freezes / crashes (OS Debian 10.2) but I'm
unsure if they are related to the patch or something different.
I was considering testing a identical replacement board and another CPU
as soon as some additional parts arrive.
I'll come back to you if I know more.
