I missed the 2015 commit which completely removed the warning
from tail.c ( v8.24-43-ge6b3af6 ), rendering the entire thing irrelevant.

I think this may be worthy of an FAQ entry anyway, since quite a few
distributions contain older coreutils versions. You already did a
prototype "implementation," so it should not be too much work?
Of course most people ignore warnings, and of those who don't only a
select few will check if a report is necessary before sending one. Thus
I would expect a minimal impact only.
This is just a suggestion, feel free to ignore it. :-)
