It has been broken for a while now, I think. I can have a look at it. Debian has Hurd ISOs for i386 and amd64 with instructions how to run in QEMU listed in the README file [1]. It can be a bit difficult to test on Hurd, though. If you reboot you will be prompted to 'fsck' in a recovery shell. But that never works, so you have to create a new VM.
