However and to a reasonable degree, the EDW architect should have tactical and practical experience with all of these roles. *Desired Skills :* Specific Skills and Experience (Mandatory): Data Modeling for Operational Systems (run the business) - conceptual, logical, physical Data Modeling for Dimensional Systems and Reporting (decision support) - dimensional, star, snowflake, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions Layered Data Architecture for an Enterprise - Source System Platforms and Data Layer, Operational Data Store (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Marts Data Structure Rationalization - Converging and re-aligning data structures of a common context (but potentially varied structure) into a single cohesive structure that can be navigated, and can exploit different views representing the originating (different) source structures. Patterns and implementation techniques to ensure appropriate - source data changes, data lineage, data traceability Non-Functional Requirements (NFR's) - describing, measuring, identifying supporting or enabling technical solutions SQL Skills (strongly desire Oracle 10g, but will consider SQL Server 2005, DB2 UDB) MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Outlook *Description : * EDW Architect Role The EDW Architect role will report directly to the Enterprise Architecture organization within the IT organization. Specific direction will be taken from the Data Domain Architect and when appropriate supporting direction from the IT Strategist (both from within the EA organization). The day-to-day role will be immersed within the EDW project, and participating with both Business team representatives and IT Technology representatives. The EDW Architect is expected to be an over-all subject matter expert and with demonstrable technical skills in the Data and EDW spaces. The role will provide specific and tactical guidance for: the use and application of industry canonical models, data standards, operational and dimensional modeling, EDW patterns and best practices.
