Position Summary

This Database Analyst (DBA) is primarily responsible designing and coding an
access administration wrapper in t-sql for the Sybase database environment. In
addition, the DBA will also be responsible for the health and stability of
databases used within RFS. The DBA supports the activities of the RSF IT staff
for specific applications by providing in-depth consulting to client, IT
management, and IT staff at a medium technical level. This includes the
identification and resolution of information flow, content issues, and the
transformation of business requirements into database definitions. The DBA
resolves all database-related issues and works closely with the Development,
Project Management and ETS staff.

The DBA works with the Project Manager, Development team and Business clients
to document business requirements, and independently to create database related
cost estimates. The DBA performs database design reviews to enforce best
practices and standards and may develop detailed logical data models. The DBA
may also design a physical data model based on the logical data model and
implement the physical data model in the database.

The DBA's support activities include analyzing, testing, and implementing
physical database designs to support various business applications. The DBA
also establishes and maintains a very high level of user trust and confidence
towards IT's responsiveness to user's needs. The DBA is required to work with
customers of varying technical levels in a high-pressure and complex
environment.

Summary/Justification:

The non-production database administration team currently supports the
following SYBASE databases: Zippy, APStar, Adios and Webstats.

Upcoming projects in the SYBASE space include upgrades of APStar and Adios and
Webstats to support WaMu. In addition there are several requests to replicate
data between SYBASE applications and other databases which have been delayed
due to resource constraints. Because of this project workload in addition to
the full time workload that day-to-day support of the SYBASE applications
entail, we require a full time resource which is being requested on another
requisition. This contract resource will support the SYBASE audit which is
upcoming in 2009 and do the coding for a wrapper which will support access
admin functionality for all Sybase databases for production and non-production.
This issue has been identified as critical by the Retail IT risk team and must
be remediated before the completion of the audit in 2009.

Thanks & Regards,
