*Location: San Diego, CA*

*Duration: 6 Months*



Candidates must have significant Windows Server technical experience and
significant database / SQL coding experience. You should meet a
preponderance of the qualifications in each of the below three categories:



Category #1 – Administrative / Support skills



•  Exceptionally strong scripting skills. Windows scripting, powershell
and/or VBScript.

•  Exceptionally strong SQL skills, preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server
environment. Experience writing SQL queries, developing db schemas, writing
stored procedures, developing code to manage large datasets.

•  Experience installing, configuring, administering, troubleshooting
Windows Server 2003 environments.

•  Experience with data center applications: schedulers, monitoring tools,
backup/recovery.

•  Best candidates should have experience investigating and resolving server
failure issues, and working within a large data center that features strong
division of responsibilities.

•  Ideal candidates will have experience doing engineering level support for
an administrative team.

•  Ideal candidates will have experience doing large scale migrations, or
other large scale infrastructure projects.



Category #2 – Specific technical / development skills



·  Strong development skills in a Microsoft development environment: VB.net,
C#, SQL Server, .net framework, C#, ADSI

·  Ideal candidates will have experience developing code to automate
large-scale administrative functions

·  Ideal candidates will have experience with automated test systems such as
LoadRunner.

·  Ideal candidates will have experience in several of the following:
Veritas Storage Central, Distributed File System, Volume Shadow Copy
Service, Microsoft Cluster Service, Active Directory, IIS, Tidal Batch
Scheduler, SQL SSIS jobs, basic SharePoint site administration

· What work will you be doing if you are offered this position? It will
probably include some of the following, plus several tasks not listed:

· Performing ongoing process administration for large infrastructure
projects and migrations. Server consolidations and data migration.

· Building servers and guiding them through a complex move-to-production
process that involves many different participants across many departments
and organizations

· Direct engagement with users to support their efforts in large
infrastructure projects and migrations

· Participating in projects to rebuild or reconfigure servers

· Regularly scheduled ongoing activities to analyze storage usage of
hundreds of servers, thousands of disk volumes, tens of thousands of file
shares.

· Make recommendations for optimal loading of resources. Develop detailed
storage remediation plans. Execute remediation plans.

· Developing processes and code to migrate large volumes of data across
different servers / volumes / technologies

· Developing tools to expose the file system structure & contents to users,
allowing them to prune files, folders, and the like, thereby reducing
storage consumption.

· Developing process and code to automate storage management
