Network Engineer II

 

Location           : Branchburg, NJ

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

Qualified individuals will be responsible for supporting and troubleshooting
the LAN/WAN, Network Security and solving network related issues. Candidates
must have expertise with the Cisco product line and possess detailed
knowledge and hands-on experience with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPN
concentrators and Wireless equipment. He/She will be responsible for network
management including LAN/WAN and Security. The successful candidate will
also perform network audits and develop recommendations with regard to
network hardware and software as well as perform network analysis and
capacity planning.  This position is also responsible for documentation of
all these systems and reports on these operations.  The Network Engineer is
expected to act with urgency, create competitive deadlines and achieve
results under deadlines.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE

1. Support the WAN and LAN infrastructure including Cisco 2800, 3800 and
7200  routers, Cisco 3550/3750, 4500 and 6500 series Catalyst switches
including Sup 720, NAM blades and other modules

2. Support the Network Security Infrastructure including Cisco PIX/ASA
Firewall, Cisco IPS, Cisco CSA, Cisco ACS servers, F5 Firepass and RSA
Authentication Manager

3. Responsible and accountable for Network Infrastructure operating at peak
performance

4. Manage and ensure security on all our networks to prevent external
attacks and exploits

5. Update and distribute security solutions to all computer systems

6. Provide level 2 support to the Client Support Call Center for
diagnostics, troubleshooting and resolution of network and customer circuit
anomalies

7. Manage Websense Security Suite Policies

8. Evaluate networking products and select related vendors. Recommend
network and security solutions to ensure maximum uptime while maintaining
minimum exposure

9. Plan, evaluate and implement failover systems for disaster recovery

10. Create and maintain documentation for network and security
implementations and procedures

11. Manage the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) requests and interface with
upstream Internet Service Providers (ISP) to resolve routing issues in the
Internet that are infrastructure and/or client impacting

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

 

1. At least 8 years experience with TCP/IP networking, Cisco Routers,
Switches, PIX/ASA firewalls, and VPN concentrators product lines. Candidates
should have a background in LAN/WAN management, Security management,
wireless network management, and DMZ Architecture

2. In depth knowledge of  WAN/LAN architecture, Layer 2 and Layer 3
technologies. Experience  with configuration of Cisco IOS-based devices,  ,
Trunking, Spanning Tree, Etherchannels, VTP, subnetting, and VLANs

3. Expert knowledge of security technologies such as IPSec VPN, ACL
filtering, intrusion detection, attack mitigation, NAT/PAT. Familiarity with
encryption and hashing algortihms and SSL VPN

4. Cisco CCIE or CCNP and CCSP certification Preferred. MSCE and additional
related certification a plus

5. Websense and Aruba Networks Preferred

6. Must be familiar with the various types of WAN services including MPLS,
T3, T1 and SONET

7. Good working knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF,EIGRP, BGP)

8. Knowledge of Management Software (CiscoWorks LMS , Cisco Security
Manager, Cisco Access Control Servers,  etc.)

9. Familiarity with VOIP and Multicasting a plus

10. Broad knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Server operating systems, Active
Directory management, DNS, DHCP, Symantec Antivirus products, etc.

11. Understanding of ARIN routing and addressing practices

12. Good understanding of DNS (root servers, zone delegation and transfers,
etc.)

13. Understanding of the effects of latency/delay, jitter, packet loss and
other performance metrics

14. Familiarity with SMTP message routing logic

15. Must be a self-starter and be able to use own judgment/initiative to
undertake activities with minimal supervision

16. Must possess excellent writing and communication skills.  Good
organizational and documentation skills are also required

17. The applicant must be able to manage multiple projects/tasks
concurrently. He/She must have the ability to prioritize tasks and complete
assignments within an estimated time frame

18. Stays current with new technologies and trends
