Hi, Please send me your BEST candidates for the below position......
Please respond to [email protected] Position: Teradata DBA Rate: ALAP Duration: 6 Months Location: Philadelphia, PA Project background: Starting with a fairly 'normalized' atomic data layer, this person will be a key participant in the design and implementation of a presentation data layer that will be utilized as the source for reporting applications and analytical (ad-hoc query) capabilities. A first phase of the presentation layer is already in place: heavily dependent on flat, wide denormalized tables. Our goal is to move away (as much as possible) from this approach and move towards a dimensional data layer approach. A series of application databases are also in place supporting subject-area specific database views. This person will work with Data Modelers, DBAs, ETL and BI developers, and Business System Analysts in Business/Functional Requirements review and Solution Design sessions. Mentoring and transfer of Teradata knowledge to current team members is a critical and absolute requirement. Required skills: a.. 5+ yrs recent Teradata experience as a DBA; focus is on application development DBA skills (physical database design), not as an operational DBA skills (backups, handling of day--to-day requests such as altering a table, capacity planning, general SQL tuning) b.. 10+ yrs overall IT experience c.. MUST be Sr.Level related to Teradata physical database implementations (in-depth understanding of skew, PPI, joins methods, data access paths, workload management) d.. Demonstrated experience in the design/build/implementation of Dimensional data layer (focus is on providing data to reporting applications and ad-hoc query capabilities) e.. Demonstrated experience in the effective use of Aggregate Join Indexes and PPI (Partitioning) f.. Teradata Certification Preferred g.. Sr.Level SQL scripting/tuning h.. Technical Lead experience i.. Experience Working with very large databases (multiple terabytes) j.. Crystal clear communications skills k.. Related Health Care subject matter experience is a Plus Note: A BI or ETL developer with some experience with physical database design or as a DBA is not a candidate that we would consider for this opportunity.
