Grammarly is looking for a motivated Ph.D. student to work with our Language Research team in the USA or Canada for three months in 2023. The internship has flexible start dates in the summer of 2023. We seek students who, ideally, are in the latter half of their Ph.D. program and have a strong foundation in linguistic research and analysis, with good exposure to natural language processing and the conceptual fundamentals of machine learning.

As an intern, you will work closely with your mentor and other linguists, software and machine learning engineers, and research scientists to explore the frontiers of language data pipelines, high-quality linguistic analysis, and natural language processing according to a defined research agenda. In this role, you’ll apply your knowledge and learn new skills to help improve our tooling and analysis pipelines and writing assistance systems. You’ll conduct research that ultimately contributes to the next generation of communication assistance tools. You will also have the opportunity to design and implement experiments to test ideas related to language data management, augmentation, or analysis.
