It is indeed a very sad news, for all the colleagues Karel worked with,
his friends and his family.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karel Pala,
professor emeritus of our faculty. He passed away on Wednesday
morning, February 15, 2023, at the age of 83.
Karel was an early corpus-enthusiast who pioneered corpus linguistics
in Czechia. His friendly attitude inspired many of us to pursue our
careers in this field. This will always be remembered with deep
gratitude.
