PhD on LLMs for Software Engineering Are you passionate about making significant contributions to the development of resilient and adaptable Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Large Language Models (LLMs) tailored for the field of Software Engineering? We at the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, UK, are offering an exciting opportunity for a fully funded 3.5-year Ph.D. studentship.
Project information: The Ph.D. will focus on developing robust AI and NLP -based methods that can improve the software development cycle, including software requirements, user feedback, software patches, and more. Depending on the student's profile, a particular focus would be identifying pitfalls of current AI models with text-to-code and code-to-text transformation and working on creating or enhancing transformation techniques on related tasks. - Start date: January or April 2024 - Deadline for application: 15 December 2023 - Interviews: shortly after the deadline Eligibility The studentship is available only for applicants who are eligible for Home Fee status (UK Home students). The minimum entry requirement for a PhD is a 2:1 honours degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline. Excellent written and oral communication in English is a prerequisite. We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest, and ideally experience, in software engineering, artificial intelligence or natural language processing and should be able to demonstrate strong computer programming skills. Candidates with evidence of research skills, such as involvement in a significant Bachelors/Masters project comprising experimental research or peer-reviewed publications will be considered a plus. Funding This PhD studentship is open to UK home students only and covers university tuition fees for 3.5 years and a tax-free maintenance grant (stipend) of £17,668k per annum. The studentships also include funding to support travel costs to present research at national and international conferences. International students are not eligible for this studentship.
