Call for Shared Task Proposals

We cordially invite submissions for shared task proposals as part of ArgMining
2027.

To advance research on specific aspects of argument mining, previous editions
of the ArgMining workshop series have promoted shared tasks. These have
addressed, for example, understanding argumentative structure in highly formal,
legal-political UN resolutions (see
https://shared-task-argmining.linguistik.uzh.ch/) and multimodal argumentative
fallacy detection (see https://nlp-unibo.github.io/mm-argfallacy/2025/).

Following the success of previous workshops, ArgMining 2027 plans to share one
or more unsolved problems to be investigated by the community. In keeping with
this year's special topic of Argumentation in Agentic and Human-AI Settings, we
particularly encourage submissions focusing on this theme.

Proposal Format
The shared task proposal should be compiled in a PDF of at most two pages,
excluding references, using the ACL template. Proposals for shared tasks should
include:

  *
A title and a brief description of the task;
  *
A description of the datasets that will be used in the task and their
readiness, including previous work on the datasets and publications (if any);
  *
The proposed evaluation of the submitted systems;
  *
A brief introduction of the task organizers;
  *
Anticipated dates for releasing datasets and final evaluation.

Submission
Please submit your shared task proposal PDF via email to argmining.org [at]
gmail.com. The submission deadline is October 31, 2026. Task organizers will be
notified of proposal acceptance a couple of days after this deadline in order
to stick to the tight timeline.
