TPDL 2027 - The 31st International Conference on Theory and Practice of
Digital Libraries

https://tpdl2027.dei.unipd.it/

27-29 September, 2027, Venice, Italy

TPDL 2027 will take place on San Servolo Island in Venice, Italy, organised
by the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Padua,
co-located with ADBIS 2027. Set in the Venetian lagoon, the venue offers an
inspiring setting for discussing digital libraries in a city with a rich
history of cultural heritage, scholarship, and publishing.

TPDL is an international forum focused on digital libraries and their
associated technical, practical, and social issues. The conference covers
the many meanings of the term “digital libraries”, bringing together
researchers and practitioners from diverse fields ranging from the LAM
(Library, Archive, and Museum) community to Information and Computer
Sciences. In 2027, two complementary tracks, one oriented towards digital
humanities and cultural heritage, the other towards computer science,
welcome contributions across these fields.

TPDL welcomes submissions from researchers, practitioners, and
professionals working in digital libraries, data infrastructures, cultural
heritage, scholarly communication, information retrieval, artificial
intelligence, and related fields. Contributions from interdisciplinary
teams and practitioners are particularly encouraged, including work that
combines the perspectives of the two tracks.

 Important Dates

---------------------------------

All deadlines are 23:59 (11:59 pm) in the AoE (Anywhere on Earth) time zone
on the date specified.

Workshop proposal deadline: 20 February 2027

Abstract registration deadline: 2 April 2027

Submission deadline: 9 April 2027

Notification of acceptance: 30 May 2027

Camera-ready submission: July, 2027

TPDL 2027 features two distinct tracks:

Track 1: Computer Science Foundations for Digital Libraries: Methods,
Systems, and Applications

This track explores the core computer science principles, methods, and
technologies underpinning digital libraries. It covers advances in
information retrieval, data management, and artificial intelligence,
alongside system architectures for large-scale digital collections and
practical applications in areas such as academic research and cultural
heritage preservation.

Track 2: Digital Humanities and Digital Libraries: Collections, Methods,
and Scholarship

This track explores the intersection of digital libraries and digital
humanities: how digital collections enable new ways to study, interpret,
and connect cultural sources. It welcomes work on humanities research
methods, scholarly editions and annotations, and the design of digital
library services that support research, collaboration, and access to
cultural heritage.
