This is a call for papers for the American Chemical Society National Meeting in San Francisco, April 2-6, 2017. One of the sessions will be concerned with text mining and natural language processing (NLP) for chemical information. The title and description for the symposium are given below.

The Call for Papers and Abstract submission is now open ( ). The submission deadline is October 30th. Perhaps you can share this information with your colleagues to see if any would have interest in submitting an abstract. I hope we will have many good submissions and have an interesting symposium.

Title: Text-mining and Natural Language Processing for Chemical Information: From Documents to Knowledge

Organizers: Rachelle J. Bienstock, RJB Computational Modeling LLC ( and Jeffrey Nauss ,Linguamatics, (

Free-form text such as literature, patents, and presentations (to name just a few sources) can have a wealth of chemical information. To find that information is a challenge for both academia and industry. This symposium will discuss and present algorithms and important considerations for developing successful querying and searching methods for chemistry articles, patents and text.
