An academic research project developing resources for machine learning
seeks to fill several annotator positions.  The project’s aim is to
annotate the order and timing of events in multi-genre text. We are looking
for 4-6 native speakers of English who have or are currently pursuing a
degree in linguistics or another language-related discipline. Thoroughness
and attention to detail are a must.  Positions are part-time, telecommute.

Main Responsibilities:

- identification of text spans denoting characters in the narrative, and
establishing corefence links between them;

- identification of text spans denoting events in the narrative, and
establishing coreference links between them;

- establishing temporal order between events;

- providing feedback on the annotation process and the guidelines (in order
to refine them).

Work Environment:

All work is done remotely through software we provide. All annotators
follow task-specific annotation guidelines and work individually. The
annotation is done anonymously through username; the identity of the
annotator is not known to other annotators and not shown in the resulting

After initial pilots and guideline refinement, this position assumes
approx. 20 hours of annotation work per week for 4 months. The pay is $12
per hour.
