Data Migration Specialist

Local candidates with US citizenship, EAD or Green card only. Face to
Face Interviews will be scheduled on or around the week of March 22
April 15 th, 2010, between the hours of 10:00AM and 4:00PM.


Required Skills
•       5+ year experience data migration projects and technologies
•       Demonstrated experience with Legacy (mainframe) Data migration and
data cleansing efforts
•       Demonstrated experience in designing and documenting conversion and
interface specifications
•       Demonstrated experience importing and exporting data from a variety
of database applications
•       Demonstrated experience with data analysis and data mapping
•       2+ year experience with SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL and DTS in SQL Server and
Oracle
•       Experience with ETL and data quality tools like IBM’s Quality Stage
products is a plus
•       Excellent analytical skills, detail and process-oriented
•       Proven ability to coordinate activities with business and technical
teams
•       Excellent communication skills
•       Prior experience working on large IT vendor supplied COTS deployment
projects for the Education or Government institutions preferred
The Data Migration Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited
to, the following:
•       Support the Vendor’s analysis of existing data feeds and current
NYCDOE data systems, data conversion and integration solutions
required to support SESIS business processes
•       Analyze data in various applications, mapping the data between
various NYCDOE source systems and ensuring the accurate importing of
data to SESIS.
•       Analyze, prepare and execute data cleansing services
•       Support and perform User Acceptance Test activities for the SESIS
Data Conversion, cleansing and integration solutions
•       Ensure that proper documentation is captured, maintained, understood
by and available to business and/or IT partners
•       Escalate critical technical issues and potential problems as needed
to the SESIS Project Manager to address any SESIS related issues in
advance of deadlines
She/he will work as a member of the SESIS deployment team reporting to
the SESIS Project Manager.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
•       Participate in, or facilitate, business process and requirement
sessions to ensure that the vendor fully understands the requirements
and the data necessary to support those requirements
•       Work with business analysts, business users and IT professionals to
analyze and document the data as it exits
•       Work closely with the various IT departments at NYCDOE ensuring that
their existing data conversion and integration needs within the system
is met and that the integration solution is within the DOE standards
and guidelines
•       Propose any refinements as needed to the existing documentation and
standards
•       Prepare, conduct and document focus group sessions as needed for
information discovery
