Our client in Boston, MA seeks to hire an AIX LPAR Design and Implementation Consultant for the job described below.
*Job Description* Job Scope: Our client is currently looking for a professional services consultant to help design and implement a hardware refresh and AIX virtualization project. We are currently looking for resouces to help us design and implement a basic PLAR implementation Background: The client has not made a significant investment in AIX hardware in some time and now has decided to update and "virtualize" their outdated AIX infrastructure. Currently the AIX systems are being used for Dev/QA and Tech Support of the client's own software products. They have a few shared database servers and then a several boxes that run WebSphere or Weblogic and their own J2EE applications. they are considering going with a blade chassis and 3-4 blades. For the storage backend, they want to use an existing NetApp FAS2020 that they are upgrading to dual controllers with internal SATA disks and a shelf of fiber channel disks. It is our understanding that the client will be using iSCSI as a storage protocol. The client is looking for professional services to help design and implement the new AIX LPAR technology as well as to provide knowledge transfer so that they can manage the environment going forward. The current AIX hardware listed, "Frodo" and "Alfred", are the two main database servers for the AIX environment and are shared. The client id not necessarily looking to migrate each server into an LPAR, but instead to build out a new environment and have the developers and QA resources migrate their systems onto new basic LPARs.
