Our client, based in Columbia, MD, is looking to bring aboard a Principle Configuration Management Analyst.
Project duration: 12 months If you have the appropriate experience and interest, please forward your resume to me, along with responding to the questions listed below: Responsibilities: • Apply leadership, skills, knowledge, and experience within the Configuration Management (CM) discipline, and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in providing CM services covering configuration identification, control, status accounting, verification, and audit to projects. • Participate in the development, maintenance, and conformance to industry standards regarding CM practices, procedures, and processes. • Deploy/migrate applications, patches, and bug fixes using the enterprise Configuration Management change control process. Experience with Quality Center and Concurrent Versioning System (CVS) are required. • Mentor teammates and other project staff members in understanding the total build process and identifying strategies for problem resolution. • Make use of the enterprise source and version control, and defect tracking tools to prepare and distribute configuration status accounting reports and provide administrative support for the Infrastructure Configuration Control Board. • Perform ongoing operations for functions including system/software version control, build, migration, packaging, installation, and verification. • Prepare, track, document, and maintain the hardware and software CM databases. • Assist in planning and documenting changes of hardware/software infrastructure relating to CM. • Assist in the application of the new Sarbanes-Oxley government regulations regarding software change management. • Participate in the coordination and administration of assigned Configuration Management activities relative to identification, control, and accounting for systems and/or equipment. Required Experience • 7+ years of experience in a software Configuration Management environment utilizing version/build control tools or other CM industry tools. CVS and Quality Center experience a must. • The Seapine Software suite and CruiseControl knowledge/experience preferred. • 10+ yrs of experience in Information Technology. • 7+ yrs of experience performing hands on Configuration Management. • Knowledge of software version control tools and processes in distributed computing environments (UNIX, LINUX and/or Windows based). • Experience with development, maintenance and implementation of software/hardware upgrade/migrations. • Experience and facility with installing, configuring, learning, using, and explaining automated tools used in CM. • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl or Unix shell scripts is preferred. • Knowledgeable of SEI CMMI and/or ISO9001 preferred. • Ability to work both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor. Ability to mentor others on team. • GREAT people skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate well with customers and other team members. • Ability to meet timetables for deliverables; work on multiple concurrent projects; troubleshoot software/hardware problems. • Ability to work extended hours, as necessary, to meet project deadlines and goals as required.
