ETL developer minimum skills:

·         DataStage 7.5:

o   Create/Modify both server jobs and sequence jobs, given ETL requirement
and rough design

o   Understand the difference between global and local parameters and the
hierarchical relationship when passing them between sequence jobs and server
jobs

o   Understand limitations of hash files and how to effectively utilize them
for lookups

o   Able to read, understand, and use existing routines within server jobs

o   Understand DataStage components and how to use them to gain maximum
performance, given client environment

o   Able to follow client standards for DataStage development and client
development lifecycle

·         Comfortable with reading SQL, medium complexity

·         Detail-oriented

·         Thorough unit testing

·         Willing to ask questions and share knowledge



ETL developer ideal skills:

·         DataStage 7.5/8.x

o   Design/Create ETL server jobs and sequence jobs given set of
requirements, sometimes enhancing requirements

o   Design/Create stages within server jobs that maximize performance

o   Understand and Design parallel processing within DataStage 8.x for
maximum performance, given client environment

o   Able to follow client standards for DataStage development and client
development lifecycle

·         Comfortable with reading/writing very complex SQL

·         Detail-oriented

·         Thorough unit testing

·         Willing to ask questions and share knowledge

commitment to the team, and drive.
