Candidate will fill the role of a Software Engineer 4 as part of a 5-8 person scrum team that is itself part of a larger technology organization spanning multiple locations. The candidate will be expected to quickly become a contributing and effective member within their individual scrum team after a reasonable amount of ramp-up time; leaving plenty of time to get familiar with the PayPal systems and our organizations own adoption of certain technologies (Java, RESTful services, Eclipse-based/Intelli-J IDE, Service-Oriented Architecture Principles, etc.) The candidate will be a member of a highly cohesive, supportive team of high-performers and is expected to be a self-starter. Communicating across other teams within the organization is expected as well when the candidate is delivering a feature or bug fix that requires it. Our organization values effective team-work and are very nurturing of new hires that are hard workers; the candidate will be expected to drive their own ramp-up, asking for help and assistance when needed but not relying exclusively on team-members to fill every gap. The working environment is Agile with 2-week sprints being the primary mode of delivering work which will be a combination of new development and maintenance of existing systems. *Years of Experience: * *Job Requirements* · Experience – 10+ years of software development · Java – Extremely comfortable (7+ years) · JUnit – Extremely comfortable (5+ years) · Spring – Comfortable (1+ years) · Maven – Comfortable (2+ years) · JAX-RS – Comfortable (2+ years) · SQL – Comfortable/Familiar (3+ years) · TestNG – Not required, but a bonus. *Basic Qualifications * · Experienced software engineer · Participate in design, development, implementation, and testing of technical systems. · Implement shared components and frameworks using Java in a Linux based environment. · Quality minded with a strong understanding of writing good test cases (JUnit and TestNG) · Self-starter · Flexible and able to cope with ambiguity. · Able to own and drive working effectively, communicating within the team and outside the team to understand dependencies and deliver working code. · Extremely comfortable with Java 8 and popular frameworks like Spring and JAX-RS. · Comfortable with RESTful Web Service design and functionality.
