I've been running with Heimdal for awhile. I had to make a few changes
to the code tho. The preauth stuff to verify that the kerberos server is
who they say they are didn't work. As we are in a fairly secure
environment, I commented that portion out. Otherwise, its working fine
with Heimdal.
