What is in the iiscosign logs? Any "cosign" events in the Event Viewer?
"an internal error occurred" probably means the iis filter entered an indeterminate state and could not recover. This could be caused by a misconfiguration or an ssl certificate issue. Also, try running IIS with the cosigndbg.dll as this will provide much more verbose output to the cosign logs.
