Hello Jim

Forgive me for the intrusion but I have only recently come across your site.
I wonder if you can help me further my research. My great grandfather
William Blackhall came from Arboe in Co. Tyrone. He gave his birth year as
1800. He enlisted in the 14th Light Dragoons in 1817. According to his record
he was previously a carpenter. Around this period he married a lady called
Margaret by whom he had 2 daughters, 1 in Londonderry and 1 in England whilst
serving with the regiment. When he left the Dragoons in 1834 he had a
gratuity of approximately £15 which was paid to Margaret, her abode being
Arboe. 2 months later, he married a young woman called Caroline in
Monmouthshire in Wales/England. He eventually moved to the West Midlands in
England where he had several children with Caroline.

I have tried all ways to find out who Margaret was, when they married and what
happened to her because in 1844 he married Caroline again in the local church
although there is no record of this marriage being officially registered only a
mention in the parish records.

Are there any records for Arboe or Londonderry?

Thanking you in anticipation.

Noreen Evans.
