This marriage announcement may be of interest to McCaghey and Acheson 
researchers in Co. Tyrone, Ireland and Toronto, Canada; I hope so

Coleraine Chronicle (Co. Londonderry) December 5 1857
McCAGHEY-ACHESON [Married] At Toronto, Canada, on the 3rd ultimo, by the Rev. 
H. J. Grasett, B.D., and Rector of Toronto, Mr JOHN McCAGHEY, formerly of 
Dungannon, county Tyrone, to JANE, eldest daughter of the Rev. JOSEPH ACHESON, 
of the same place.

Information relating to the bride’s father:
Extracted from “History of Congregations in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland 
1610-1982” (PHSI, Belfast, 1982) p 282;

CASTLECAULFIELD…….The third minister was Mr. JOSEPH ACHESON (lic. Tyrone) who 
was ordained in Castlecaulfield on 25 September, 1833. A man of many parts, he 
bought and successfully worked a farm at Killyliss. He also conducted a school 
for many years in Dungannon. He built the present church building in 1842, 
retired from active duty in 1876 and died at Larne [Co. Antrim] on 4 January 
1893.
