Dave and Jim,

What a great submission! Dave’s compilation on the life and career of bankrupt
Samuel Mitchell of Killymallaght, Clondermot parish, Co. Londonderry,
illustrates the usefulness of bankruptcy records: obscure, but valuable in
identifying an ancestor. It provides an incentive to continue transcribing the
records of insolvent debtors.

The newspaper report of the large gathering of 300 in Samuel’s new barn is a
truly wonderful find and the evening (and morning) would have been an event
long-remembered in the neighbourhood.

Thanks for a great submission
