I am planning to visit Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in the summer of 2019, as part of an extended holiday to the UK and Europe. I am related to the Patrick Family that lived in the Lislafferty area where they have farmed forever! I have a farm property in Canterbury, New Zealand near Christchurch City. I retired earlier this year from a career in agricultural science, and farming our own property. I have an interest in genealogy and things rural in particular, and will have turned 70 by the time of my visit. My link with the Patrick family is via my fathers grandmother, Sarah Patrick who with two of her sisters emigrated to New Zealand around 1880. All married into rural families, and I know the three families well, having visited on several occasions over the years. I have very good family history on all three New Zealand families.
I would like to meet as many members of the Patrick's as I can during my visit, and invite family members to email or write to me before the time so this can be arranged. Sarah's husband was Thomas Dunn, also from the same district, son of Thomas Dunn who was born about 1859. Sarah's father was Joseph Patrick of Lislafferty, born in 1865. I have sourced most of the information about Sarah and Thomas from the Ardstraw Presbyterian Church records.
