Hello Listers - as genealogists, we are very aware of phonetic spelling in
days of yore............ and even today in the younger generations.
Yesterday, I completed typing the list of names for Donaghcavey Cemetery
where I found the best/worst examples of spelling issues with names.

One example - the firstname Owen was spelled as Oin, On, Own

It behoves us to remember this when we are searching old records.

Take a look for yourself - Inscriptions from Donaghcavey Cemetery (or
Findonagh) <https://www.cotyroneireland.com/graveyard/donaghcavey.html>

Have a GREAT day
Jim
