Hello Listers,

What a marriage certificate doesn’t tell you:

Marriage Register: Mountfield Parish Church (Church of Ireland), Cappagh
Parish, Co. Tyrone
#67 June 2 1863
JOHN CRAWFORD 25 years bachelor farmer, Killins. Father: CHARLES CRAWFORD farmer
&
MATILDA HAMILTON 23 years spinster, Killins. Father: CLAUDE HAMILTON farmer
Witnesses: WILLIAM JOHNSTONE & JOHN B. JOHNSTONE

It is interesting to note that the bridegroom, JOHN CRAWFORD, had previously
emigrated to the U.S., and had perhaps returned home to marry his sweetheart:

Extracted from the Londonderry Sentinel, June 5 1863
Married 2nd June, in the Established Church, Mountfield, by the Rev. Mr. Swift,
MR. JOHN CRAWFORD, of Pennsylvania, America, to MISS MATILDA J. HAMILTON, the
daughter of CLAUD HAMILTON, ESQ., of Mountfield

During my thirty years of extracting pre-1880 Cos. Tyrone and Donegal personal
notices from the Strabane, Derry and Belfast newspapers, this is not an unusual
occurrence. I hope this extract is interesting/ useful to researchers.

Regards and good luck with your researching,
