Hi,

I don’t know if I’ve put this post up before but here goes anyway.

My name is Anita Keaney and I am trying to trace Mc Cormack ancestors who lived
In Cookstown Co. Tyrone.

My great grandfather John McCormack who was born in Cavan and married Ellen
Baxter from Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan In 1887. They lived in William St.
Cookstown, Co. Tyrone.

My grandmother Margaret Mary was born in November 1890. Her mother Ellen died
in 1895 and John remarried Jane Gallagher from Co. Kildare in Dublin in 1901.

They had a daughter Josephine in 1902 and John died in 1904. In the 1901 census
my grandmother Margaret Mary is living in Cookstown with her father and
stepmother.
In the 1911 census she is on the Carysfort Blackrock Dublin census. From
family history we were told that after her father died she was asked to leave
the house in Cookstown.
We think in the intervening years she lived somewhere In the North helping in a
school before going to Carysfort. My grandmother became a Primary School
Teacher and played the piano, organ and violin. She was a very accomplished
woman.
She married William ODonnell from Co. Cavan and lived in Arva, Co. Cavan until
her death in 1965. She had 4 children 3 boys and one girl. One of the boys is
still alive but he says his mother never spoke about her earlier life.

I know she did talk to her daughter in law who was my mother(decd). However it
is only in the last few years that we have started to piece together the family
history.

If anyone has anything to share it would be wonderful as I would love to be
able to pass on the information to my own children.

Thanks,

Anita Keaney
