fine work and I went beyond his findings in this case,

The following related to William Murray and Ann Leslie, daughter of John
Leslie of Tirkernaghan, Donagheady parish; as well as their son William who
became William Murray of Silver Brook.  The deed abstracts are all mine.
There are a couple of useful PRONI abstracts inserted to help with some
clarity on the family.

1 August 1740.  Deed of Lease between William Murray of Littlewrath, County
Kildare, Esq., & Ann Murray otherwise Lesly, his wife, of the 1st part; and
John Walker of Lower Terconly, Donaghedy parish, Barony of Strabane, County
Tyrone, farmer, of the 2nd part.  Conveys "all that part or parcel of Land
called or known by the name of Terconly lower with the Appur.s thereunto
belonging as the same was then Meared & bounded & then poss.ed by the s.d
Jn.o Walker for & during the natural Lives of the s.d Jn.o Walker  Jn.o
Walker the yo.r second son to the s.d Jn.o Walker & Dav.d Walker son to
Ja.s Walker of Liscloon in the County of Tyrone & for & during the Life and
Lives of such person or persons whose name or names shall be Incerted in
the place of the persons herein before ment.d..."  £5 fine payable for
inserting new life.  Liberty for John Walker to cut turf Quarry Stones &
cut all such timber as he shall plant on said premises.  Witnessed by Rev.
Victor Ferguson of Strabane, County Tyrone, John McClintock of Dublin,
attorney, lately deceased.  Memorial, dated 11 January 1743, witnessed by

I have again wrote to Mr W[illia]m Murray present Ten[an]t of Stragoland
pursuant to your L[or]dships ord[e]rs.  I saw Murray since your L[or]dship
was in this country, he shewed me a fine that was levied to enable one John
Kincaide to sell to one Jo[h]n Leslie his father in law, he said he had
also a Deed of conveyance.  I told him I believed that would not satisfie
your L[or]dship unless he could shew who had the first Grant & also that it

22 August 1750.  Deed of Release between William Hamilton of Donemannagh,
County Tyrone, Esq.; of the 1st part; and William Murray of the City of
Dublin, Esq.; of the 2nd part.  Conveys in consideration of £460 sterling
"all that the yearly Fee Farm rent of Twenty pounds ster. issuing & payable
out of all that the proportion of Altnacree containing the severall
Denominations viz.t Lisclune  Tirconly  Munekenan  Bellenener  Clagan  and
Gorteclare situate Lying and being in the manor of Elliston in the Barony
of Strabane and County of Tyrone."  Witnessed by Arthur Shepheard of the
City of Dublin, public notary.  Memorial, dated 27 August 1750, witnessed
by Andrew Makilwaine of the City of Dublin Gent. and by said Arthur
Shepheard [Ireland.  Registry of Deeds.  Vol. 141, p. 403, no. 95991;

28 September 1751.  Deed of Lease between William Murray of the City of
Dublin, Esq., and Ann Murray otherwise Leslie, his wife, of the 1st part;
and John Walker of Lower Terconly, Barony of Strabane, County Tyrone,
farmer, of the 2nd part.  Conveys "all that part or parcel of Land commonly
called and known by the name of Lower Terconly afores.d w.th the appur.s as
then meared and bounded and poss.ed and enjoyed by the s.d John Walker
situate lyeing and being in the parish of Donaghedy and County of Tyrone
afores.d (Excepting as thereby is Excepted)."  To hold for the natural
lives of said John Walker, William Murray son of the said William Murray,
and David Walker son of James Walker of Liscloon - renewable forever on
payment of a £5 sterling fine for new life.  Witnessed by Simeon Rousse and

29 January 1774.  Deed between William Murray, the elder, of the City of
Dublin, Esq., of the 1st part; and William Murray, the younger, his son, of
the 2nd part.  Conveys the "Town and Lands of Upper Collermoney then in the
occupation of Hugh Cuningham and partners situate and being in the Parish
of Lack and Barony of Strabane and County of Tyrone and those parts of the
Town and Lands of Castle Wiggins then in occupation of James McGonnigall
and Dan.l McKay together with that part of the Demesne of Terkernekan now
called Silver Brook then in Poss.ion of said W.m Murray the younger situate
in Parish of Dunnerkeddy Barony of Ellison and County of Tyrone.  Witnessed

commonly called Terkernaghan, County Tyrone, Esq., of the 1st part; and
James Lighton of Dunamane, County Tyrone of the 2nd part.  Conveys "all
that third part of Castlewigan and the Turbary thereon formerly held by
James McGonigal and Daniel McCuy situate lying and being in the parish of
Donaghody & C.o of Tyrone."  Lease for three lives (not named) or for 31
years from the 1st November next at yearly rent of £23.6.8 Sterling.
Witnessed by John Lighton of Rasbery Hill, County Londonderry, farmer, aged
51 years and upward, and Edmond Sheills of Clonlough, County Londonderry,
farmer.  Memorial dated 31 May 1774 and witnessed by said John Lighton & by

County Tyrone, Esq., of the 1st part; and James Lighten of Castlewiggan,
County Tyrone, farmer, of the 2nd part.  Conveys "all that part and parcell
of the Town and Lands of Castlewiggan as formerly held by James McGonigale
and Cha.s McCay and now in the poss.n of the said James Lighton and
commonly reputed called and known as one third part of the said Town and
Lands of Castlewiggan as the same is now Meared and bouded."  Yearly rent
of £23.6.8 Sterling.  Witnessed by William Jack and John McFarland, both of
Lisnarrow, County Tyrone.  Memorial dated 12 May 1775 and witnessed by said
William Jack, aged 31 years and upwards, and by Thomas Lighton of Rasberry

5 April 1778.  James Hamilton, Strabane, to the Earl of Abercorn.  A Mr
Murray who married a sister of Lieutenant Leslie's, got Stoneypath and
Colermoney as a fortune with her, and also Shaghgullan; the upper part of
Colermoney Mr Leslie sold for 600 years to a Mr Gamble, who sold it to one
Hall who was married to Winsley's daughter of Altnagallaglagh; at his
Hall's death it was sold to the late Thomas Winslay; the rents of that part
are now paid a Mr Bond and a Mr Chambers, probably that may be of Carmoney,
which your Lordship enquires about, as I can hear of no such place! The
woods of Cavanacreagh Castlemellan Tillyard and Cloughcorr will be well
enclosed for about £19 and the Glan of Strabane for about £15; a good many
trees in the Glan are failing and young growth in Cloughcorr needs weeding.

8 March 1793.  Indenture of Lease between William Murray of Silver Brook,

Dan.l McCay and then in the poss.n of the s.d Ja.s Lighton and Commonly
reput.d called and known as one third part of the s.d Town and Lands of
Castlewiggin as then mear.d & Bounded all which said Prem.es are situate
lying & being in the Manor of Elliston Barony of Strabane and County of
Tyrone as also the Turbary belonging to s.d Demised Prem.es..."  Lease from
1 November last for the lives of James Lighton 2nd son of Sir Thomas
Lighton of Merville Lodge, County Dublin, aged three years or thereabouts,
Alexander Lighton, son of the said James Lighton, aged 8 years of
thereabouts, and James Lighton, son of Samuel Lighton of Derrymanagh,
County Tyrone, aged 6 years or thereabouts; or for 31 years.  Yearly Rent
£30 payable half yearly.  Witnessed by Thomas Lighton of Merville Lodge,
County Dublin and James Lighton of Merville Lodge, County Dublin.  Memorial
dated 14 March 1793 and witnessed by said Thomas Lighton and John Lighton.
