Hello All
I’m wondering if anyone might have information on the McIntire/McIntyre family
from Dungannon area. My g/grandmother was born in the Dungannon area,
1838-1840. Her name was Mary Jane McIntire/McIntyre and family info - very
sparse and definitely not confirmed - is that she was born into the
Presbyterian church. She converted to Catholicism upon her marriage in the
early 1870s and was henceforth known as Elizabeth or Eliza Cardwell. She and
her three daughters moved to Belfast when her husband died in a farming
accident in the mid-1890s. Does anyone know how many Presbyterian churches
serve the Dungannon area? Is all information available online?
A cousin, perhaps distant, namedTommy McIntire/McIntyre kept in touch with
Elizabeth/Eliza Cardwell’s surviving daughter in Belfast well into the 1960s.
We believe that this Tommy McIntire/McIntyre was from the Dungannon area. Any
info very much appreciated as have been stuck for a while at this brick wall!
Many thanks.
