Chiming in about how CoTyroneIreland has been an integral part of our genealogy research and to express my appreciation for everyone who has made a contribution on the site. 1.Information sharing. In the last four years we've been able to piece together previously unknown (to each other) branches of our Boak family tree. Through this site, were also able to share research results with other users, furthering the information held by each of us and resulting in many useful offline discussions on specific topics to our respective families. 2.Finding cousins! CoTyroneIreland helped us discover and connect with several distant cousins and have now been able to meet some of them starting with a family reunion in 2018 followed by a cousins' trip in October. 3.Trip planning. Older posts to this site had useful suggestions for how to plan a successful trip to Northern Ireland / Co Tyrone and more. We used that information when we planned our cousins' visit to Northern Ireland. From car rental tips to preparing for and doing prep research for our visit to PRONI. 4.Networking. Made contact with Boyd Gray after reading one of his submissions to CoTyroneIreland. He later paved the way for a delightful visit and tour of the farmstead formerlyheld by my 4G-Grandfather, Robert Boak, b. circa 1740. He also informed us about the Monreagh Family History Festival which we then added to our itinerary, made a few contacts, and havestarted new conversations. Boyd writes about our October homestead and cemetery visit on his West Ulster Genealogy Services Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/pg/westulstergenealogy/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10156164260667303&ref=page_internal It took several years of patient (and sometimes frustrating) research to get to the point we're at today, including use of two different DNA testing sites and other genealogy resources, to further our gathering of pieces of the family tree puzzle. CoTyroneIreland has been integral to it all. And our research is never done. We're currently in the process of verifying the family of Robert Boak's spouse, a McCormick from the Strabane area. And working to piece together the family information for the brothers of Robert Boak (resided in Ardstraw, Ballylaw, and Leckpatrick) and Robert's cousins who married into the Gordon family. We're combing through posts here and elsewhere to help put the puzzle together. I encourage everyone to donate something to this site: research results, old photos, transcriptions, and of course funds to help grow and expand what this site has to offer. Each bit added will help someone piece together their genealogy puzzle. Jim McKane - look for my next monetary donation to CoTyroneIreland coming today. Cheers! --Sandy
