Hello Stan

Compliments for 2020 and best wishes for your research. Thanks for sharing your
bio.

The 1831 (or thereabouts ?) Tithe Applotment listings for the parish of Urney
are available at the National Archives of Ireland -- original images online

As a parish Urney straddled the co. Donegal/co. Tyrone border, hence this
online sharing from Dublin.

Shows William Hamilton, also James Hamilton and Widow Hamilton.

Warm regards

Subject: [CoTyroneMailingList] John S. Hamilton, born in Urney, Tyrone,
Ireland; Died in Major County, Oklahoma, USA

I have recently joined the website and I have liked what I have seen to date. I
have attached a story on John S. Hamilton compiled several years ago by my Aunt
Betty Martin for submittal to the website. My focus on joining the website is
to find the lineages of his parents William Hamilton and Sarah Stewart. After
William died in 1847, Sarah moved her eight children to Allegheny County,
Pennsylvania, USA. I have often wondered how she paid for her and her
children’s passage to the U.S. as well as why she settled in Allegheny County.
It appears that she had close relatives who had immigrated to the U.S. before
her and had settled in this area, but I would like to confirm this. The family
does not have any of this information and I am hoping that we can connect with
someone in our extended family that can further develop William and Sarah's
ancestry.

Based upon my DNA matches with distant Hamilton cousins on Ancestry.com , it
appears that a Rev. James Henry Hamilton, b. May 15, 1630 (Hamilton Manor,
Lanarkshire, Scotland); d. December 11, 1685 (Manor Hamilton, County Leitrim,
Ireland) may be a common but unconfirmed ancestor. To date, I have not been
able to develop William Hamilton’s or Sarah Stewart’s lineages past them.
Although I have possible parents for them, I have not been able to confirm
their relationships to date. Any help from the listers with my search would be
greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Stan Shockley
