Subject: Baptism of Mary Jane Hamilton, Brigh Presbyterian, Feb 14, 1839
On the transcribed list so gratefully typed by Len Swindley, I find the baptism of Mary Jane Hamilton, with father John Hamilton. Is there anywhere to find the original image to see who the mother is, or will the mother not be named at that time?Mary Jane had a brother Joshua abt 1837 and a sister Nancy abt 1845. I didn't find them on this transcribed list of baptisms. Mary Jane married Alexander Ferguson in 1861 in Brigh Meeting House. Father John had died 1884, married, in Ballymaguire, son Joshua in attendance. John's will mentions Joshua and Nancy and his wife but does not put a name to his wife. I just searched all Hamilton female deaths between 1884 and 1901 and found Jane Hamilton, age 83, widow, Ballymaguire, son Joshua in attendance. So now we have a first name but not a surname.Joshua and Nancy were still single in 1911 and living in Ballymaguire with nephew Alexander Ferguson.
