Hello Rick. Lots of Morrison mentions in the early BMD records C17th for St Columbs in Derry. Symington's Civil Survey 1654 is probably also worth looking at.
My guess is a Scots-Irish surname with Gaelic origins, so don't be too quick to assume English! In Scottish history, Morrisons had ongoing clashes with the MacLeods ... I suspect(based on my surname) that my ancestors may have been part of that event too but have not been able to find any records of who arrived from where and when.
