My ancestor Elizabeth (Eliza) Sharkey was an Irish Famine Orphan sent to Port Phillip (Victoria, Australia) on the “Diadem” in 1849, arriving in 1850 from the Omagh Workhouse. Shipping records give no indication of her parents. Her first daughter was named Ann, so I’m thinking this could have been her mother’s name. Her first son was named George Henry. I have a DNA match with the Harpers of Co Donegal and also descendants of the Sharkeys of Bomacatall (Hugh Sharkey). I would like to find parents for Elizabeth Sharkey.
